Tess Russell, Softball Hitting, Defense

Coach Tess Russell has been an assistant coach at Saint Ignatius College Prep since 2021. She came back to her high school team after college and has been doing a great job with head coach Allison Heraty (also a Bash coach). She also has coached the 16U Oak Park Windmills.

She played 4 years of varsity ball at St. Ignatius where she was named a Captain as a Junior and was 1st Team All-Conference, Honorable Mention All-State and IHSA All-State Academic Team.

A speedy outfielder, in 2016 Tess went off to Northwestern University where she walked on and made the varsity team, then decided to play club softball instead, wanting to concentrate on her major of environmental engineering.

She’s a big believer in teaching the mental part of the game, also.
