Sergio Olivarez - Hitting, Catching, Defense
Sergio Olivarez is a bilingual catcher instructor from Venezuela with years of experience playing and developing within highly competitive baseball environments in both Latin America and the United States.
Growing up in Venezuela, Sergio trained with the prestigious Bucaneros Academy, an organization known for producing professional baseball talent and MLB players such as Luis Matos, Israel Pineda, and Daniel Montano. Being surrounded by elite-level competition from a young age allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the game, especially the demands and leadership required behind the plate.
At the age of 16, Sergio moved to the United States to continue pursuing his baseball career at the collegiate level. He attended Oakton Community College from 2018-2019, where he competed at the NJCAA level and was part of a program that reached the NJCAA Baseball World Series stage. His experience competing in both the Caribbean and American baseball systems gave him valuable insight into advanced player development, discipline, and professional preparation.
In 2021, Sergio continued his collegiate career at Waldorf University, competing at the NAIA level. During the 2021 season, he posted some of the strongest numbers of his college career:
AVG - .324; OBP - .377; SLG - .422; OPS - .799; Hits - 33; RBI - 21; BB - 13
Today, Sergio works as a catching and hitting instructor, helping athletes improve both defensively and offensively through professional-level training:
